DEPRESSED CENTER DISCS
Used on portable angular grinders for grinding and cutting both ferrous and
non-ferrous materials (iron, aluminium, cast iron, stainless steel, marble, etc.).
Maximum peripheral speed: 80 meters per second.

CUT-OFF DISCS
Like depressed center discs, these are characterized by one or more special reinforcements in order to give the wheel an extremely high resistance. They are used to cut any kind of materials (iron, aluminium, cast iron, stainless steel, marble. etc.).
Maximum peripheral speed, 80m - 100 meters per second. The customer should supply all data concerning diameters, thicknesses and holes when ordering. It is also necessary for us to know the type of material to be worked.

HOW TO CALCULATE THE NUMBER OF REVOLUTIONS OR THE PERPIHERAL SPEED
The peripheral speed (ps) in meters per second is expressed by the following formula:
| |
wheel diameter x rpm x 3,14 |
|
ps =
|
----------------------------------- |
meters per second |
| |
60 x 1000 |
|
| In which rpm = number of revolutions per minute |
The number of revolutions per minute can be obtained with the following formula:
| |
60 x 1000 x PS |
|
rpm =
|
----------------------------------- |
revolutions per minute |
| |
wheel diameter x 3,14 |
|
| The diameter of wheel is expressed in mm. |
HOW TO CALCULATE WHEEL WEIGHTS
To obtain weight of a wheel, please refer to the following formula:
Weight in Kg = D² x 2 H
In which D = wheel diameter in decimeter and H = wheel height in dm.
The formula is based on a specific weight of 2,5.
Example:
Given a wheel 500 mm in diameter and 50 mm high, we have:
D = 5 H = 0,5
therefore:
D² X 2 H = 25 X 1 = 25 Kg
the weight of the wheel
From this result, the weight of one wheel with the same hole dimension, must be deducted.
This calculation is valid for wheels with a vetrified agglomerative base. If it is a question of a silicon carbide wheel for grinding and rectification, you must decrease the weight of the wheel by 15%, for a silicon carbide wheel used to clean cast iron 10% should be deducted, if resinoid wheels are involved, add 10%.
VELOCITY CONVERSION TABLE FOR WHEELS
Meters per second (PS) = Revolution per minute (RPM) with regard to the diameter.
